About Aliyah

Aliyah Shahid is a journalist based in New York City. She is currently a multimedia editor at the New York Daily News. Before that, she was a municipal reporter  for New Jersey’s Star-Ledger. In 2007-2008, she worked in New Delhi, India, at Mint, a newspaper partnered with The Wall Street Journal. At Mint, she wrote for the newspaper and produced multimedia features for the web.

Aliyah grew up in Toledo, Ohio. She has a B.A. in political science from Tufts University, an M.S. from Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism and spent a semester studying British foreign policy at Oxford University. Her work has appeared in several publications, including the New York Post, New York Daily News, The New York Times, Boston Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, Hindustan Times, Toledo City Paper and United Press International. Most of her work has focused on business, politics and features.
